Swim
Comments: Start was nuts... as expected, seeded myself in middle just behind the front.... was going for the full experience... was hard because everybody in front of me were all blocking and kicking... after the turn around at the end of the lake there was a powerboat and the fumes got me nausious and i started throwing up... calmed down after a couple of tosses and got back at it, had a steady 2nd loop... the wetsuit stripper had a hard time helping me with my suit... it would have been faster if he didnt help me... What would you do differently?: get more to the front and sprint off the start... Transition 1
Comments: T1 was slow... it was a long run to the transition area and trying to figure out what i needed from my T1 bag... had too much junk in there.... then had my bike shoes on and forgot i wanted to put cycling shorts over my tri shorts... so that slowed me down as well What would you do differently?: keep it simple! Bike
Comments: went verry conservativly didnt push the hills.... ate enough, drank enough... had a great bike.... could have gone harder.... probably would have regretted it on the run.... happy with my bike split What would you do differently?: maybe go a bit harder on the bike... push the flatter sections a little more Transition 2
Comments: better T2... had a little "pee" break just before papa bear... so was rested and well prepared for T2 What would you do differently?: Keep it simple! Run
Comments: was running and feeling great for the first 15-16km... up until the hill back into town... was running around 5:15/km hr was around 145... was feeling great... then the hill, i had planned to walk up the hill both times.... was feeling good so i decided to run it... on the out and back on lakeside dr. my right IT band sarted to hurt... I then had to walk/run for the rest of the marathon wich was ok since I had gas left in the tank to have a strong finish and not be too exausted... all in all was a good marathon considering it was on an ironman, suffered way less than the marathon i ran in moncton and the timberman last summer. What would you do differently?: stick with the plan and walk up the crazy big hill! Post race
