Comments:

The humidity and the hills made this race extremely difficult for me.
What would you do differently?:

I have got to find someplace to train on hills.

Also, MP3's were legal and I opted to use mine. I fumbled with it at the beginning of the race which got me off to a slower start than I should have had.

Took a walk with my son! He's a Wolfpacker!!! Hooooowl!!!

Event comments:

I met my "initial" goal to sub 9 min mile this race. However I made that goal a month ago when I was still unable to sub 9 a 10K distance. Since then I've run this distance as fast as 8:31 at home. So I was actually disappointed after the race feeling that I had the capability to at least sub 54 min. But my training was done at 5 am in the cool mornings on a flat course. The race was extremely humid, relatively hot, and hilly. It was about to storm. About half way through the race I was praying for it to rain to cool me off, but it didn't happen! I REALLY wanted this particular race to be a personal best. But, I should be happy with the results based on my current fitness level and given the racing conditions.

This was my first 10K race. There will be plenty more. And it can only get better...

With all that said, I did take 2nd place in my age group and finish in the top 25% overall female (once again!); so even though I did not PR, there is something to smile about :-)
