Run
Comments: Felt like I started out fast. This is the first race in a long time, so I didn't know what to expect. I could have been a little more controlled at the start, but it didn't affect me too. By the 3rd mile, I felt a little panicky that I could be running out of steam. By the end, I didn't really get myself up to a sprint, so some people were racing past me. I'm happy with my time, especially for my first race, but just need to get used to the whole race feel. What would you do differently?: Make sure I have enough energy to push the last part of the race. Plan to have more of a negative split. Post race
Warm down: Stretches. Drank a recovery shake. What limited your ability to perform faster: May just be a matter of getting used to racing. Also, still trying to get my run stronger. Still get a little stressed while running, can't seem to relax through it. Event comments: A huge production, very well organized and lots of work done by NYRR. Last updated: 2009-07-30 12:00 AM

Had a low-glycemic index breakfast. Sipped on GE before race. Had a gel right before getting to the start. Stretched a little at home, focusing on back and legs. Have been having tightness in back and a weird hip, but it felt ok.
Did some minor stretches and a little jog before. The start came pretty quickly, which is good since I was a little nervous, but I could do better at planning the warm-up. Wasn't really necessary for such a short run.
