Swim
Comments: I was very pleased with this swim. Considering that on Monday I had major OWS panic. I got in the OW 3 times this week to overcome this. I think I did fabulous on this swim. I freestyled it in the whole way! I even passed 2 people at the end after being in DFL for most of the swim! But, results are posted and my time was not DFL! Yeah! What would you do differently?: In OW, I tend to pull to one side really bad. I need to figure that out and work on it. I ended up swimming further than I needed to as a result. Something to work on... Transition 1
Comments: For some reason, I really am great at T1! I was 41st in my T1 time! What would you do differently?: Nothing, I did great! My time included the .2 mile walk/run up hill and into the T1 area. Bike
Comments: Felt strong on the bike once I got going. It took me about 6 miles to get HR settled down. About a mile into the bike, a guy was stopped with a flat. I stopped to help him. That took me a few minutes. That's ok though- I would have wanted the same done for me. The course was rough in that the road was rough. My poor crotch couldn't take too many more bumps! LOL!! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I'm going to work on my power output in the off-season Transition 2
Comments: Again, good T2 time. I may not be good at much, but darn it, I'm good at transisitons! Why don't they give out prizes for T times!! :) What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I simply was HOT! HR was jacked- did a lot of walking to keep HR down and to cool off. I ran through every sprinkler I saw, which involved some yard running. I poured water on me at every aide station too. I did the best I could with the conditions. What would you do differently?: Not much- for this race, as my first Oly, I did lots of bricks.. I can't control the heat of the day or the timing of the race. Post race
Warm down: None- walking around chatting it up. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat and my lack of speed on the swim. Event comments: The Purdue Triathlon Club did an awesome job on this race!! I was skeptical going in because of negative past reviews, but these kids blew the race right out of the water! They did a super job!! If I'm not doing a half-iron at this time next year, I will definitely do this race again! Last updated: 2009-07-31 12:00 AM

Got up at 6am, had some cereal with fruit, juice, coffee, just did my normal morning stuff. Since the race was here in town, there was no rush, plus I wanted to keep my anxiety to a minimum. Did a load of laundry, put dishes up.. surfed the net..
Parked at the Stidham church, so rode bikes about a mile to race site. Brrr... was it cold!
