![]() Swim
Comments: This was a really fast swim for me. I started off good and tried to get into drafts as much as possible but kept getting bumped a lot in the first stretch. After the first turn I got behind a swimmer going at a fast pace and just held onto her draft. I stayed on her feet for the rest of the swim and it definitely made me go faster, not just from the draft benefit, but also pushing hard to make sure I didn't fall behind. What would you do differently?: Not much, this was the best I've ever drafted in a swim and I ended up with a very fast time for me. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Not sure what my time was here because T1 and T2 are included in the bike time. Other than the wetsuit getting stuck a little bit this transition when fairly well for me. What would you do differently?: Work on getting out of the suit faster ![]() Bike
Comments: I'm surprised with my fast time for this bike leg because I never really felt like I got in a good rhythm. That is probably mostly due to the course though, with all the turning and ups and downs you never get a chance to settle in. I was getting frustrated by a group of riders toward the end who were clearly working a paceline together. I tried to get past them but they eventually pulled away from me before the finish. I did get my revenge on most of them during the run though. What would you do differently?: Even though it didn't feel that great, this was pretty fast so I guess I did well! ![]() Transition 2

Comments: Really good run for me. I was pissed about the people drafting ahead of me so even though I was planning on taking it easy and just treating this race like a training session, I put out a hard pace and was intent on running them down. I caught a bunch of people one by one by couldn't get everyone from the paceline. I had to sprint to the finish to edge out someone. Side note: on the results it says I finished 10th OA with the 6th best run time, but its very obvious that a guy who finished just ahead of me did not complete the 2nd loop of the run course. I went ahead and made the corrections for this RR :) What would you do differently?: Not much, really fast trail run for me. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around and chatted with people I knew and cheered on the people still coming in. What limited your ability to perform faster: For a race I was treating like training and didn't really rest up for, I still came out with a good performance so I'm pretty happy with that. Event comments: It was a fun race with lots of people I know through the club. Its a pretty talented group of triathletes too which makes for a more competitive event. Woke up, packed my things, ate a bowl of cereal, and drove the race site.
Ran for a few minutes, then got the wetsuit on and did a few strokes before heading to the starting dock.
