Swim
Comments: Once I got passed the swimmers that were breast stroking and found some open water I was able to get into a good rythm. I felt very comfortable in the water and never felt stressed or nervous. What would you do differently?: I need to find a better place to start the swim. Being in the back is not working for me because I am finding that I am a faster swimmer then I think and I am getting caught behind weaker swimmers. I think I am going to try the middle outside next time. Transition 1
Comments: Thought this was a one of my better transitions. I did not worry about drying the feet, just put the socks and shoes and and went. I did have a little issue with the helmet (could not get it to stay tight), but eventurally it stayed. What would you do differently?: Just continue to work on being faster. Bike
Comments: Felt good on the bike. For the most part the road was smooth...there were some spots with chipseal and that was horrible. Some of the intersections were unmaned and that was not a good thing. What would you do differently?: I need to learn to keep the pace up when going into the wind...I think I let the little wind that there was give me an excuse to easy up a bit. Transition 2
Comments: Felt good here. What would you do differently?: I should have racked my bike from the other side and it would have be faster and easier. Run
Comments: I felt good during the run...my HR monitor was not working so I was going by feel. After I reached the turn around I had caught up with a guy on the course and I was riding his should...I apologized for hanging onto his shoulder but he said he did not mind. He also said he just had to keep going because his goal was to finish in under 3 hours. This is the point that I looked at my watch and realized that I had a real chance of finishing under 3 myself and I picked up the pace. Post race
Warm down: Drank so water and gatorade...did not eat there because they ran out of food before I finished my race. Event comments: They avertised lots of food but that was not the case. They did not have any left by the time I finished. There were not a lot of volunteers and some of the intersections were very dangerous because they were not manned. Last updated: 2009-08-02 12:00 AM

Got up at 4 a.m. Made peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast. Loaded up the bikes and head to the race site around 5:15 a.m. Once there checked the air in the tires and then head to the transiton area. Found the rack and laid out my gear (I remembered my race belt this time).
Did a easy swim to the third buoy and back and then I stretched.
