![]() Swim
Comments: I definitely need to work on my swimming a lot. Going to have to hire a coach in the winter to work on stroke, speed and endurance. Also need to try a tri specific wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Be better prepared for the swim. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: A very different transition. Not too concerned about my slow time. I have no trouble with traditional transitions so no real concern. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: I couldn't be happier. I wanted to finish what I thought was a 90km course in 3hrs and ended up finishing a 94km in under 3 so I am really pumped. What would you do differently?: For this particular race... nothing. I passed a hundred or more people and was only passed by some dude that was ridiculously fit and had had a flat when I originally passed him. That being said, there wasn't really anyone who could pass me as I was one of the very last people out of the water. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Not really a very good transition. Came to a stop to get off of my bike, unclipped and then walked to my rack. Pretty bad What would you do differently?: Be off of my bike by the time I stopped and ran to the racks. ![]() Run
Comments: Not prepared enough for the run. Needed to do more hill training. My feet got wet and then went raw. I wasn't able to run as much as I normally would. The heat was also nearly unbearable during the run. What would you do differently?: Train more for longer distances. One really long run prior to the race is obviously not enough. Being my first real year running I am not too disappointed, it is just that I know that if my feet had not gotten wet and then blistered that I could have been much faster. ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My lack of running experience and my raw feet. Time to start concentrating more on my running if I want to continue with this distance. Event comments: The race itself ran very smoothly and the swim and bike course were amazing. The run course was poorly planned, too much going over the same ground. As far as race value, I am very disappointed. For the cost of the event there was nothing outside of the actual race provided for the riders. No pre-race dinner, no post-race dinner. There was absolutely nothing in the registration bag except for my race kit and a magazine. There was no swag at all. Finishers buckle is cool and the race t-shirt, but come on, not even a free water bottle. The organizers should be a little embarrassed that they didn't provide a little more for the athletes. I really expected more out of an event put on by our sports biggest name. There was no "expo" at the finish. There was no real food for the athletes at the finish (pizza, pop, bananas, maybe some cookies, that was all). I have definitely gotten better post race food from the Multisports Canada guys. All that being said, I know this was their first year doing this event and that it will take time to perfect things. Last updated: 2009-08-02 12:00 AM

Had to be up at o4oo to make it to the bus in time to get out t the race start. Had a coffee and bagel before I left the house and brought another one with me. Got to the site around 0600 and got my bike ready, then waited in the outhouse line up for 1/2hr. Mostly tried to stay warm while the sun was coming up. Took a couple more trips to the outhouse.
