Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:45, left at 515, at the race site at 520 :). Setup T2 quickly, then rode my bike over in the dark to T1. Very easy logistics, actually.
Event warmup:

The ride over was enough, I guess.
Swim
  • 24m 53s
  • 1609 meters
  • 01m 33s / 100 meters
Comments:

An ok swim for me. I probably should have been put in the first wave, but for some reason wasn't so lined up at the front of my wave. Which was weird because I am not used to having men in my wave :). They started our wave and suddenly realized I picked a bad place to start because the other two fasties in my wave were directly on my left and on my right. They decided to swim together, and swam right over me. I stayed on their feet for a bit, but then ended up in no mans land all by myself. After 10 mins I did see someone from the first wave, but other than that pretty much by myself. Just kept a steady rhythm and passed probably 15 or so silver caps.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe swim more. I can always stand to swim more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

Not the best transition spot.. Right near the swim exit so I didn't have much time to remove the wetsuit, and about 5 volunteers were hanging out by my bike. Fiddled with the Trakkers device I was using and ran up the hill with my bike (shoes on my feet).
What would you do differently?:

Not fiddle with stuff I don't need to fiddle with ;)
Bike
  • 1h 04m 23s
  • 22.3 miles
  • 20.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Strong ride for me. I couldn't get breathing under control, but legs felt snappy. Loved that I knew of 6 groups of friends around the course. It was awesome to see Neva, Shawn, Meg + Chris, Slake + Tim, Bailey, and Dave O (in that order ;)). I can't think of too much to say on this ride but I tended to get passed on the hillier glade/lawyers section, then repass on south lakes. The PT has surely helped with riding with even effort/power and/or I still don't ride hills as well.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

Felt fast. Did take a few steps back to remove the Trakker device. Wasted a few seconds here. But I didn't sit down! And my flying dismount was very good.
Run
  • 50m 54s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Wow this run felt great! I was still wheezing, but I felt like my form was excellent and that I was moving nicely. Again nice to see so many spectators, teammates and friends. Just really enjoyed myself out there.

I really enjoyed the finish at a track that I often do workouts.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Well executed.
Post race
Warm down:

One of the best races out there. Love the hometown race!
