Pre-race routine:

Let's see, drove up on Saturday and dropped the bike (bummer), then back up at 6am on Sunday. Planned on staying at resort but family conflict (next year)
Event warmup:

Ran around for about 10 minutes searching for my car keys, luckily dropped them at the body marking and they were turned in to the announcer (sweet!) Didn't bother swimming since I did not wear a wetsuit and didn't want to stand on the beach (about 60 degrees) being wet and cold.
Swim
  • 07m 33s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started outside left and never had issues with traffic. Added maybe 10 yards total and was about 7 swimmers inside of me rounding first bouy. Short swim for such a big wave start, there was never really any spreading out, plus with 4 minute gaps in waves, caught next wave stragglers about at 250 yards.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

Steep hill on pavement - over half the people were walking it up to the top. Definately spiked the HR but figured I could rest on the rest of the run through T-1 and on the first 2 miles of the bike. Socks on (I know), shoes, helmet, sprint. Wore garmin for the swim, previous races, put on in T-1 (saved 5-10 seconds). No issues with watch, gps map funny though, if I actually swam as the map shows, wow, zig zagging everywhere. Plus, didn't slip coming out of T-1 this time!!!
What would you do differently?:

practice without socks to build up feet.
Bike
  • 34m 1s
  • 12.7 miles
  • 22.40 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good (a S-32 aluminum bike with Easton EA90's) so fun to go by the full carbon rigs with Zipps!
Enjoyed the course, would be a great place for some longer races.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Smooth - ran in fast, racked, right shoe off / on, left shoe off /on, helmet off, glasses off, grab number belt, gone... thanks yankz!
Run
  • 20m 32s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Biggest improvement all season, finally sub-7 split. Been working on tempo runs and an occasional hard Brick workout so nice to see it making a difference. Plus new shoes made a difference? Skipped water throughout course as it tends to slow me down and slosh around.
What would you do differently?:

Wish this wasn't my last race for the season.

Event comments:

Jim puts on a great race. Organized, fun, great t-shirt. Only complaint, bike drop-off on Saturday with race on sunday. Next year, stay in the resort overnight and have the family come watch = problem solved.
Lots of first timers which is great to see the enthusiam, excitement and nervousness of the group.
FUN
