Comments: This was the absolute worst swim ever. I threw up twice, had a death headache and needed assistance 3 times so I could overcome the nausea. I have serious reservations wether I would do the race again. The chop was severe but the gas in the water was a huge factor. What would you do differently?: Not swim in this water. Transition 1
Comments: Because of the nausea it took some time to get stable to get on the bike..... Bike
Comments: Because my nutritional plan was scattered all over the lake, it was a challenge to replace all my calories.....sadly all I could manage was 1.5 L of gatorade. Also, forgot to fill my gel bottle in pre-race so no Gu's either. Got tough sooner that average, plus the extra distance was a mental hurdle. Bad. What would you do differently?: Not throw up.............pack my gels. Transition 2
Comments: Missed the cut off to complete the run......around 5 minutes short. What would you do differently?: After a bad swim and a below average ride.......work harder. Run
Comments: Well, as I didn't get to run (first time ever no making the cut), it was good as I got to spend the time waiting for wifey to finish. I predict that I would of had a poor run due to lack of sufficient training. What would you do differently?: Make the cut off and train more. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: water...........nausea.....first time and hopefully last.....devastating to a good race. Event comments: For a first time run it went quite smooth, some minor corrections but overall a quality race.
