Pre-race routine:

Everything was prepacked the night before so I got up and had coffee and toast, pumped up tires then loaded them up and headed to Whitefish.
Event warmup:

Nothing realy just milled about and chatted with other racers, did not want to get out of my warm close and put on my wetsuit temps were a little chilly i'ts been raining and cold here now for a week water temp was around 65.
Swim
  • 13m 53s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt realy good through the whole swim I have been practicing sighting every 4th stroke to keep me in line and this worked perfect. Before the first bouy I slowed down for a second because I kept sucking in water then just took off and everything was good.
What would you do differently?:

More OWS practice.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

Everything went well untill I tried to start biking and a just could not get my feet to clip in.
What would you do differently?:

I guess I need to practice more jumping onto bike and clipping in.
Bike
  • 37m 54s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt like I kept a realy good pace throughout the course the hill are a little tuff but ok coming down can be a little spooky the corners are sharp and the road was wet in spots, and lots of potholes, and i'ts always unnerving when a semi blows by you at 60mph.
What would you do differently?:

Increase my race pace more T.I.T.S.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

This went very smoothly everything just clicked I was a little shakey putting my shoe's on from being cold but it was allright.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 23m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

This was the first time I got negative splits on a 5k run this makes me very happy. I pretty much kept it redline throughout even up the brutal hill at the start.
What would you do differently?:

more running.
Post race
Warm down:

It was easy to warm down all I had to do was stop running and wait a minute and the cold air did the rest.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

At this point in my training i think I did exactly what I could do.

Event comments:

This is a great local race and Stan always does a great BBQ with lots of beer and pop.
