Swim
Comments: Navigation was a serious problem. I am quite sure I swam around 2000 m with all the zig zagging I did. I had no problems with endurance or power. Water temperature was very comfortable. What would you do differently?: I need to get the navigation under control. The closet open body of water is about an hour away for me, so I practiced sighting in the pool by eyeballing the same object on the other end of the pool. On the way home, I realized that the buoys in the water are about 200-300 yards apart...quite a bit more distance than the 25-30 yards in the pool. Without my glasses I am basically blind like a mole especially that far out and in the water. I need to take step back over the winter and analyze this problem to come up with solution. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: I need to force myself to dry my feet and put my socks. This wasn't a problem with the bike. Bike
Comments: I think the course leveled the playing field for everybody. The inclines negated the aero advantages of the more expensive bikes. You had to have power and endurance. The aero bars I put on a month and half ago really worked well, they made the ride very comfortable and help with the speed on level grade. I think only 4 or 5 folks passed me. What would you do differently?: I need to learn running mount and dismount. Transition 2
Comments: I used cross country shoes this time to avoid to much flexing of the feet. This really helped the fatigue of my feet. What would you do differently?: Running dismount. I made the mistake of not putting on socks prior to getting into my running shoes, mostly because my feet were sweaty and I had trouble getting them on. I need to force myself to slow down and do that Run
Comments: I was used to the hills from training in my neighbourhood, but the constant up and down rolling was something different. Not having socks started to become a problem around Mile 3.5. What would you do differently?: I need to work on my running over the winter. I am not a runner, but I have to overcome this....oh yes and SOCKS!!!! Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Navigation in open water Event comments: Will do this again. Nicely organized race. Last updated: 2009-08-06 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:15 and headed over to the race site. I ate a couple of power bars and had a cup of coffee ( I have to to have my morning coffee...).
I swam a little to warm up and did a little stretching
