Run
Comments: I wanted to run an 8:00 min/ mile and I was able to get pretty close. When I passed the 5 mile mark and they called out something around 40 minutes I knew I was going to get in close to what I wanted to run. I came through the chute and finished with a 50:30 official time!!! I got a MEDAL..they give them to the first 1000 runners to finish. I could not believe it. What would you do differently?: Run more to be better prepared. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and got something to drink and snacks. Looked for some of the guys from work but didn't see anyone. So after a little while I piled on one of the shuttles and headed back home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of preparation and prior running. Event comments: No goody bag after the race. Hard to carry a shirt, hat, drink, bagel, etc. with nothing to hold all the extra swag. I actually took my GPS with me to help me maintain my pace better. It worked out great! I looked like a pack mule: GPS, fuel belt (no bottles just the pocket), data collector, HR monitor and of course number belt. I guess this time next year I will start in the back and be pushing our son in a jogger stroller!! I CAN"T WAIT!!! Last updated: 2005-09-07 12:00 AM

I ate some oatmeal on the way to the corporate group picture and drank some water. No coffee for a change.
Stood in line for the john after the picture. Stretched a little then went over to the starting area for the National Anthem. Worked my way toward the frontish and then we were off like a herd of turtles!!
