Bike
Comments: First ever crit; rainy course - officials announced to take it easy on the first lap. Apparently my easy is different than others, as the lead pack took off. I was in too high a gear to start, so had to really make up time to catch a wheel by lap two; got to a 3 man pack - helped to have people to ride with, but other two were slower riders; when lead group approached to lap us, I took off in a solo - so finished behind the lead pack, but without any support. What would you do differently?: Start better, for one - not sure if I could have held the wheel of the front pack, but it would be nice to know. My training has been more for consistent and duration - triathlons, Horribly Hilly 100 - so need to work on my race condition for next year. Will add some different training over the winter for more race speed versus endurance. Post race
Warm down: Light spinning lap What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience is probably the biggest limiter. Event comments: The Grayslake Cycling Classic is very well organized - and with an 8am start, I was home by 9. Last updated: 2009-08-07 12:00 AM
