Just get set-up, ate some clif bars that morning, drank accellerade while getting ready.

Pretty good chop to the water (just like I'd hoped for). I couldn't find someone to draft off of. I kept finding people and then just passing them. Next year, I'll get closer to the bouy. I started pretty far to the right.
What would you do differently?:

Find someone fast to draft off of, start closer to the bouy

First time I've done the rubber-band trick with my shoes. It worked great. I had a really fast transition.

I was ~2 min slower than last year. I know it's from 1) 15 extra pounds over what I had last year and 2) the wind because everyone had issues with the wind. But I was hammering the whole time. The 1/2 turnaround was also moved which I missed and had a crappy turn.
What would you do differently?:

Double Check the course layout and lose some weight...

There was an accident right at the entrance to transition so I jumped off the bike and still had my hand gripping the left (front) brake so the bike flew up in the air! But I caught the top-tube, hurdled the two ladies on the ground and got into transition. In all the confusion, I unclipped my helmet!!! But I held both sides and nobody assessed me a penalty. I'll discuss Karma later...
What would you do differently?:

not unclip my helmet. My transition was solid.

ARGH!!! I hate the run. I really need to get faster!!! It was hot out, but that's not a good enough excuse. I was pushing the whole time, even cheering others on. I just really need to push harder on the run in training. It's impossible to drink enough on the run. In the Oly, I'll wear my fuelbelt.
What would you do differently?:

lose some weight. get faster.

Event comments:

Well-run race. It's my hometown showdown. I was absolutely happy with my overall performance even though I was slower on the bike. I didn't leave anything on the mat.

Course: Wind wasn't too strong, but there's no middle-ground between some and strong. It was bad enough that overall, bike splits were slower. Course was an out-and-back with the turn in a new spot so most people got screwed-up by the 6.5 mile turnaround point.
