Pre-race routine:

Up a little before 6 am to have coffee and english muffin w/ PB and banana. Left at 6:45 with Brad and Craig. Parked in the bank parking lot and walked 1/4 mile to race start. We got to the race site around 7:00 am and got in line for the port-o-potties. Line went a lot faster than last year.
Event warmup:

No real warm up besides a GU ~20 minutes before the start.

Comments:

Was really hot and humid before the race even started. Craig and I were going to run together and then last minute, Brad decided to join us. My legs were heavy at the start...probably from the century ride the day before. The first mile was so hot and uncomfortable. There was little breeze and we were all sweating buckets already. Once we got to the trail, it felt cooler and we had the tree coverage. Between miles 1 and 2, Craig said he was going to do the 8 run:2 walk and Brad and I were also on board with it. The way out was a slight up hill, but that would mean the final miles would be net downhill. Took a GU at miles 4 and 8 and drank water during the race. As the race progressed, my joints felt increasingly creaky. Was really craving gatorade, but they ran out at the one aid station they had it at. Body started to hurt, but mentally, we were all pretty happy. With about 1.5 miles left, I got pretty dizzy and actually had to stop and then just walk. It finally went away. I felt hungry, but not sure if it was that or the heat/humidity. Finished with Brad on the uphill on Harrison Street (with Craig shortly behind us).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing in my control. It was really hot and humid out. The shade on the trail made it tolerable. I dumped water on my head a few times to try to keep cool. A good training run with Brad and Craig. And I didn't get a headache which was a bonus! Had planned on running another 4.5 miles after the race to get my last long run in. The sun/heat/humidity along with the dizzy spell changed my mind. Slogging the last 4.5 miles wasn't worth it to me.
Post race
Warm down:

Chugged 2 gatorades and 1 juice and ate 2 granola bars and a package of PB crackers. Slow walk back to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hot & humid weather.

Event comments:

Overall, a good race. There were a lot of really nice volunteers who kept thanking us for running. The course is a little boring as 10.5 miles are on the trail. They ran out of gatorade on our return back. In my opinion, there isn't a reason that should happen. Especially with the hot weather. I used this as a catered training run and got the bonus of running with Brad and Craig.
