Pre-race routine:

Get up way too early, drink some OJ, almost forget my bike shoes.
Event warmup:

Stretched, flirted with the girl that gave me a ride there. Didn't get to take my routine potty break before starting. There were like 8 port-a-pots for 2000 athletes. The line was HUGE!
Swim
  • 08m 6s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 01s / 100 meters
Comments:

Spent 4 workouts last week in a pool getting ready. I haven't swam in over a year.
What would you do differently?:

More training. My swimming is way off from last year.
Transition 1
  • 04m 4s
Comments:

Kinda took my time. Forgot to fill up my water bottles. Luckily I had one filled and that was enough.
Bike
  • 42m 38s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 19.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Possibly my best pace on the bike part. Riding my mountain bike was the only thing I've done in the past year, so to no surprise I finished highest in this segment.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, it went pretty well.
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Almost indo'd the bike going into transition like I always do.
Run
  • 27m 24s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Terrible run, my worst 5k run ever. My running has suffered the most from not training this year. I am 4-5 minutes off pace from last year. Last year my left knee IT Band flared up, now this year my right knee ITB decides to make my life hell. Mile 2 was into the hot sun and a bit uphill, so I sweated my ass off going into shaded mile 3.
What would you do differently?:

Lose these extra 10 lbs and figure out a way to keep my damn knees from hurting.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, water, banana, and lots of vanilla COOOOOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lack of motivation to train and work out this year. I suck!

Event comments:

Getting the bikes out of transition was a nightmare. Stood in line for what seemed like over an hour in the hot sun to get into transition and stood in line to get out. I just don't think they were quite ready to handle over 2000 people.
