Start out closer to the front of the wave instead of waiting until everyone starts. Get beyond folks who turn over and do the backstroke and who start doing breast stroke.

The race is much appreciated. The conditions were absolutely horrible today. The water was a slimy brown that stuck even through heavy rains. The roads were flooded from torrential downpours, making the course somewhat dangerous. Wort of all, the dirt running path became a small stream with two to six inches of water. My feet at times sunk about three inches into the mud.

Still, I'm glad the race went on and much credit to the organizers and volunteers for putting on a good race despite the conditions.
