Pre-race routine:

PANIC....what else was there to do....OH and I ate a Turkey and Cheese sandwich
Event warmup:

PANIC some more and went in the lake just to get used to the water
Swim
  • 44m 8s
  • 2000 meters
  • 02m 12s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

Eat something half an hour before, train to swim faster and learn to sight better as I probably lost some time swimming all over the place.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Didn't write these down from the timing sheet. I walked most of the way from the swim to transition. Long way to go on pavement with barefee. Once I got to transition everything got everything on and quickly left. No issues there
What would you do differently?:

Suck it up and run
Bike
  • 3h 08m 50s
  • 93 kms
  • 29.55 km/hr
Comments:

Pretty happy with my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training and get FASTER!!!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Didn't write it down again. Not too speedy. Walked into transition and got ready to run.
What would you do differently?:

Run
Run
  • 2h 36m 39s
  • 21.1 kms
  • 07m 25s  min/km
Comments:

The run start was sooooooooo far away from transition I think I ran an extra km. Not much running, I was gassed. Ronan's coach told me to try Coke and that gave me some additional energy to finish out the second loop of the run. The downhill finish is tough on the quads.
What would you do differently?:

Instead of carrying my fuelbelt, which I didn't use, I will use coke from the Aid stations. I was pretty tired of GU Brew come run time. Continue doing brick training but make the runs longer.
Post race
Warm down:

Stood in the lake and drove home. Ouch it hurt to get out of the truck!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience and lack of brick training

Event comments:

I am giving this race a rating of 5 because it's the only one I've done so I have nothing to compare it to. The race was very well organized and the volunteers were great. Aid stations were great and readily available. Friendly race with people of all abilities.

Course: Swim course was great. It certainly looked longer than 2000 meters. I waited for a lot of people to start swimming before I began, that helped as I didn't struggle finding my own line and just swimming. Found the home stretch seemed choppy and I was hungry coming out of the water
