Pre-race routine:

Woke up - did not get great sleep, as my daughter got up in the middle of the night. Drove into office to get my new Oakley glasses, which were not on my desk...not a great way to get into the zone..arrived at 7:45AM, so a bit rushed.
Event warmup:

Got tranny setup, decided not to go with shoes in pedals, given the immediate hill proceeding bike exit. Went down to Ocean and swam the course once - prob should have gone for a run instead.
Swim
  • 09m 15s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Should have gone harder at the start to try and get a little distance, got caught up in the crowd
Transition 1
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

Removed gloves from equation, this saved time. Chose not to go with shoes in pedals, prob mistake as getting cleats in proved equally tough.
What would you do differently?:

go with my new routine of shoes in pedals, had an easier gear in and climbed first hill with feet on shoes and then slip in. Could have saved 30-45sec
Bike
  • 44m
  • 15 miles
  • 20.45 mile/hr
Comments:

I was very fast, could have been better on the climbs...crowds of slower riders slowed me a little - lots of drafting. Overall very pleased with perfromance, just need to increase fitness to get to next level 23mph race
What would you do differently?:

just keep improving on the fitness. Going to add a new hydration system and ceramic bearings.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Did a great job
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 26m 9s
  • 3.22 miles
  • 08m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Just need to keep working on running progress
What would you do differently?:

work in some more bricks...looking forward to this week's rest week - body did not feel 100%
Post race

The key to this swim was finding open water. Spent the first buoy climbing over people and getting climbed over. One of the most crowded swims. To top things off by the second buoy, had caught groups of women that made situation worse.
