Swim
Comments: My siting was excellent, I just kept watching to see where the hell I was going in the fight for my life. All swimming form went right out the window, I just wanted to make sure I had air. I think that was everyone's mentality. I saw breast strokes, doggie paddle, back stroke, you name it. The name of the game here was to get done. What would you do differently?: Don't think I'll be doing this race next year. WTF Transition 1
Comments: I took my time in T1 as evidenced by my time. I was shivering so bad i wanted to take a second to dry off and zip up a long sleeve bike shirt. I'm glad I did, because even though the sun was out it was still pretty chilly and very breezy. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I ran when I could. Just took extra seconds to arm myself against the cold. Bike
Comments: It was a little on the windy side. The course was well manned with volunteers at the intersections which was nice. Transition 2
Comments: I wish I knew how to do all the tricks mentioned above. I'd be the one to fall flat on my face in front of everyone so I'll continue to take a few extras seconds and clip out before I dismount. I have no issue running with my bike, however. Run
Comments: I kept a constant pace and I was happy with that. I didn't slow down at the end like I usually do. Maybe the last downhill that leads to the final flat helped with that. Post race
Warm down: I got me stuff and headed out. The kids and hubby were back at the campsite with no vehicle and it was nearing lunch time. Time to go. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was not feeling it for this race. I think me season is done because I am tired right down to the core of my being. Additionally the chilly weather and the wind (contributing to the choppy water) definitely also had an impact. Lastly, I wasn't there with any of the girls. I love doing races with them, and this time I was all alone. Event comments: I would not give this race a 5 because the swim just down right sucked. The fact that there were only 2 buoys at the end point, none to sight on to treck your pace really bothered me. Combined with what I percieved as limited kyaker support, I felt a little nervous. I think they'd do better to have this race a little earlier in the year when the morning isn't so damn cold, also. We were camping and I didn't really feel like doing this race at all. I actually got back into bed at one point, but guilt got the best of me. I contemptlated all the way to the race site. Especially with the 43 degree temp.
Just shivering in layers of clothes trying to stay warm. I didn't even want to take my jacket off to get body marked!
