Total Time = 12h 42m 3s
Overall Rank = 38/115
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 7/14
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30, shower, oatmeal, muffin, coffee and here we go. It was amazing how many cars were already there. The Redman definately spoils you with bike check the day before.
Event warmup:

Mainly the walk from the car and a good stretch. Suit on and a few strokes in the water. I had so many built up emotions at that point that I thought I was ready to break down. I was tired of guessing if I was ready. I was tired of that small voice questioning if I could do it. I was ready. I couldn't wait for the gun to go off.
Swim
  • 1h 10m 24s
  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was by far the most intimidating and motivational leg for me. I think I said the Lord's Prayer about 100 times. After finishing the swim I was convinced that I could go the distance.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe start closer to the front?
Transition 1
  • 06m 22s
Bike
  • 6h 10m 5s
  • 112 miles
  • 18.16 mile/hr
Comments:

I had ridden in a 100 mile JDRF ride the weekend before in Montana so I didn't know how my legs were going to react? No cramps or flat tires which is all I really could ask for. The excitement of getting to ride a new (to me) tri-bike went a long way. It felt perfect and I'm pretty sure the bike was doing all the work. I enjoyed watching the 70.3s on their way back from their first loop and it provided a lot of motivation.
Transition 2
  • 09m 31s
Run
  • 5h 05m 43s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

The thought of running a marathon at this point was almost comical. My legs were gone but still no cramps and I knew the finish line was on the horizon. I met up with the nicest guy from Kansas on the second loop and it felt like time flew. Watching the sunset in the last mile will be a memory that I'll never forget. All of the training, support, anxiety, accomplishment was summed up in a silent view of the sun going down over the water.
Post race
Warm down:

Drinking a lot of water and just trying not to cramp. Thank you Lord for massage tents!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I would train harder for the run and really focus on getting my legs stronger.

Event comments:

One of the best days of my life. I really liked the day but I loved the journey! Thank you to all the volunteers at Redman for a day I'll never forget. I can't imagine a better race. Thank you Shannon for the countless times you rubbed my legs and feet. We did it together.
