Swim
Comments: This was by far the most intimidating and motivational leg for me. I think I said the Lord's Prayer about 100 times. After finishing the swim I was convinced that I could go the distance. What would you do differently?: Maybe start closer to the front? Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I had ridden in a 100 mile JDRF ride the weekend before in Montana so I didn't know how my legs were going to react? No cramps or flat tires which is all I really could ask for. The excitement of getting to ride a new (to me) tri-bike went a long way. It felt perfect and I'm pretty sure the bike was doing all the work. I enjoyed watching the 70.3s on their way back from their first loop and it provided a lot of motivation. Transition 2
Run
Comments: The thought of running a marathon at this point was almost comical. My legs were gone but still no cramps and I knew the finish line was on the horizon. I met up with the nicest guy from Kansas on the second loop and it felt like time flew. Watching the sunset in the last mile will be a memory that I'll never forget. All of the training, support, anxiety, accomplishment was summed up in a silent view of the sun going down over the water. Post race
Warm down: Drinking a lot of water and just trying not to cramp. Thank you Lord for massage tents! What limited your ability to perform faster: I would train harder for the run and really focus on getting my legs stronger. Event comments: One of the best days of my life. I really liked the day but I loved the journey! Thank you to all the volunteers at Redman for a day I'll never forget. I can't imagine a better race. Thank you Shannon for the countless times you rubbed my legs and feet. We did it together. Last updated: 2009-08-10 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, shower, oatmeal, muffin, coffee and here we go. It was amazing how many cars were already there. The Redman definately spoils you with bike check the day before.
Mainly the walk from the car and a good stretch. Suit on and a few strokes in the water. I had so many built up emotions at that point that I thought I was ready to break down. I was tired of guessing if I was ready. I was tired of that small voice questioning if I could do it. I was ready. I couldn't wait for the gun to go off.
