Total Time = 1h 12m 41s
Overall Rank = 60/617
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 11/48
Pre-race routine:

2 hours before race, I ate a portugeuse muffin toasted with peanut butter. Seems perfect for nutrition.
Event warmup:

None really... probably should though!
Swim
  • 06m 3s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good, strong swim. Went a bit off course coming around the last buoy while drafting off someone, but other than that it was a good solid swim.
What would you do differently?:

Not much at all... just get stronger. Effort level was about right.
Transition 1
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

I was 19/48 in my age group in the transition, 194/617 overall. My spot was really out of the way, which didn't help. I got my suit down to my upper thighs by the team I reached my transition spot, which helped getting it off the rest of the way.
What would you do differently?:

As I am stepping out of the wetsuit, I should be putting my sunglasses and helmet on.
Bike
  • 44m 5s
  • 15.4 miles
  • 20.96 mile/hr
Comments:

Fun, but challenging course. Due to the reverse wave start of the swim, there were a lot of people on the course to navigate around.
What would you do differently?:

Get stronger, up the cardio... need to push a bigger gear.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

A bit crowded transition getting the bike in, but not a huge deal. I forgot to get out of my shoes before the transition, so I ran in my shoes all the way to the transition point. Then took them off, and put on my running shoes. I also got half-way through the transition area, and realized I forgot my garmin gps watch on my bike. I ran back to get it...
I was 28/48 in my division, and 344/617 overall....
What would you do differently?:

Get out of my shoes on the bike, and don't forget my watch!
Run
  • 18m 48s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 06m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Run felt good, but I didn't have enough left in the tank at the end. I ran hard up the last uphill to catch a person in my age group, but then he kicked it in and I didn't have enough left to catch him.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster in the middle portion of the race, get up to speed quicker out of T2 as well.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around for 15 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training... same as always!!

Event comments:

Fantastic race, well organized, had a blast. Big names showed up, made for a great day!

Course: 4 miles slow uphill, then a quick downhill, with a sharp turn under a bridge at the bottom, and up another hill. Similar a little further. Only good downhill was just before the road next to the Anasqwam River, which had a very strong headwind. So rather difficult course, almost no flats.
