Total Time = 2h 48m 11s
Overall Rank = 226/884
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 30/69
Pre-race routine:

Peanut butter, banana, and honey sandwich on a bagel.
Event warmup:

Some stretching
Swim
  • 30m 49s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Beginning of the swim the wet suite cord was rubbing my neck raw. Terrible pain, had to swim with one arm while trying to get the leash off the Velcro and off my skin.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure the cord is away from my skin. Do not make a loop at the top. I would start more in the pack to improve my time.
Transition 1
  • 03m 47s
Comments:

Was very dizzy coming out of the water. Had a hard time gaining focus and putting on my socks. The wetsuit stripper got stuck on my ankles, wasted time.
Bike
  • 1h 25m 41s
  • 27.34 miles
  • 19.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good on the bike and enjoyed the ride. Did not have the areo bars.

Was able to catch Carlos on the ride and almost caught Teague. Found Teague in the transition.
What would you do differently?:

Not put a new seat on before the race.
Transition 2
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Could not find my bike rack spot. Also had a difficult time lacing my shoes. I kept getting the laces under the tongue of the shoe.
Run
  • 45m 48s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Had to slow myself down often during the run. Was not running in proper form. I was striking with my heals for the first two miles as my legs were warming up. Did not get to drink much b/c I knew the race was short. If it were a longer race I would have drank more.
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to drink on the run w/o taking in so much air.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the finishers area and then stood to cheer on teammates

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I feel like the swim could have been better and if I work on this dizziness I will be much better in the first transition.

Event comments:

Extremely organized race with tons of volunteers. Really enjoyed the race and the amount of family activities that were planned. The only thing I disliked about the running course is that you finished by running across a sandy beach, which is very dangerous. I almost rolled my ankle while approaching the finish line. I felt bad for all of the 1/2 IM people b/c they had to run across the sand two times.
