Swim
Comments: Started on the right side of the wave. Jumped out to the front right away. Even started to catch the wave in front. After the turn drifted off course slightly and swallowed a bit of water. Finished feeling pretty good. What would you do differently?: It would seem that I need to work on navigation and go ahead and seed myself at the front of the wave. Transition 1
Comments: Coming out of transition there was a bit a traffic jam. One guy got all pissed off a raced out into the street even though it had been stated several times that we were to stay inside a set of cones. Transistion was a little slower than I would have like and every second counts. What would you do differently?: Stay steady through the transition, or not wear a weatsuit. With the swim being shortened taking the wesuit off took more time than it saved me. Bike
Comments: Started out and heart was racing (178), from training I knew that I would need to be in the mid 160s. After about 2 miles settled in and just rode. The hills were a little different than what I had been training on, in that they existed. It was fun riding in the country without the congestion and the downhills were really fun, 41mph! What would you do differently?: Surprisingly this was my weakest event. I need to spend more time in the saddle. I also think that a proper bike and fit would help quite a bit. Transition 2
Comments: Second fastest T2 time of all competitors, wearing running shoes on bike probably helped with this. What would you do differently?: I will probably have to take off bike shoes and put on running shoes in the future. Run
Comments: Started out feeling strong, but knew that there would be some hills so wanted to take it easy and try to make up time on the downhills. It actually worked. Though the time doesn't suggest it this was an awesome run for me. I negative spit it and felt like I left it all out there. What would you do differently?: Need to get some hill work in, but the question is where? Post race
Warm down: A bit of food and some drink and then waited for Jen to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of hill work on the bike and run Event comments: This was my first Triathlon so it hard to say how it compares to others. I had heard some not so kind things about this race, and all I can say is if this is bad then I can't wait to see good, I had a blast and love my new sport, though the course was probably a bit challenging on the run, I didn't mind.
