Swim
Comments: I only swam about 100 meters or so before the race start, and I felt like I had been rushing around. Decent swim for me, but I never felt like I was in a groove. What would you do differently?: Bring my goggles and warm up. Transition 1
Comments: Decent transition. Probably should have been a little quicker. Bike
Comments: The only time I noticed the chain grinding was coming out of turns when I was putting a fair amount of tourqe on the cranks. I was pleased with my overall bike split. My perceived effort for this race compared to the race #3 a couple of weeks ago felt harder. What would you do differently?: Keep riding Transition 2
Comments: Second fastest transition in my age group. What would you do differently?: keep practicing and pushing. Run
Comments: I'm diappointed in my run. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath on the first mile. I slowed down enough to catch my breath, but I never felt like I had much go juice. What would you do differently?: run faster Post race
Warm down: I was pretty hot and tired after the race. I sat in the pond for a little while to cool off. I ate a couple of oranges, drank some G'ade and ran a couple of EZ miles. Event comments: I was 15 seconds off my PR for this race. My run was nearly a minute slower compared to a couple of weeks ago, but I felt like I put out a hard effort. Woke up at 5 AM. Ate a Power Bar Citrus Smoothie and drank some G'ade along with Diet Mtn. Dew while driving to the county park.
My wheel had to be sent out of town to have the hub replaced. My buddy Kevin was kind enough to let me borrow his Mavic rear wheel. Only problem was the difference in wear b/w his cassette caused some grinding during my pedal stroke. The people @ Charleston Bicycle Co. were kind enough to try to adjust my rear derailer before the race. In addition to putzing around with my bike before the race I also discovered I had left my goggles @ home. I bought some goggles and then jumped on my bike for a quick 10-15 min warm up on the bike.
