Swim
Comments: I was happy with the swim. I didn't push the pace and just put a relax swim in. I really did zero prep work for the swim. In fact I realize at 9:30 PM the night before that my wetsuit was in storage and didn't have time to drive the 45 minutes to pick it up. What would you do differently?: While temps were high enough to not require a wetsuit, the extra bouyancy would have been nice. Transition 1
Comments: I had an aweful transition. I normally would have my top on under the wetsuit, but I left my bib waistband at home so I had to pin it to my jersey. When I went to put the jersey on it rolled up on my and I couldn't get it down. I had to run to a volunteer to get assitance. Overall a mess of a transition What would you do differently?: Wear my jersey and bring a waistband bib holder. Bike
Comments: I'm happy with the average pace given my fitness level. I probably could have pushed slightly harder, but I think I left just enough to finish the run without any significant issue. What would you do differently?: Not too much. Maybe practice cornering at higher speeds. Transition 2
Comments: I had my new running shoes which I had yet to put zips or lace loose enough to slip on; basically had to tie each shoe. That was the only thing that held me up. What would you do differently?: Install the zips. Run
Comments: While I was slightly spent from the bike, I wasn't destroyed. My heartrate normalize about a mile in, but I had a tough time picking up the pace. In fact I was able to speak without issue, but had not additional pickup left in my legs. My guess is that it was a result of only 1 month of training. What would you do differently?: get more brick training in. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of preparation in both training and finding all of my tri equipment before the event. Event comments: Overall a well organized event. The course layout is fair. While waves supposively have been an issue in the past, today the lake was flat. The field was a mix of experienced and novice, and with the women starting first there was a lot of traffic on the bike course - only an issue for those that get upset with a lack of proper riding techniques. I would say a good event to participate in. Last updated: 2009-08-17 12:00 AM
