Overall Rank = 293/492
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 13/15
Pre-race routine:

Got up really early, ate some cereal for breakfast and drank some water. Arrived at the course site a bit early as well; probably could have done with some more sleep. I was up all night because I was nervous.
Event warmup:

No warm up swim allowed. Jogged around a bit.
Swim
  • 20m 32s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was very nervous and couldn't get my breathing for a good 300 meters. After that I actually had a decent swim but that damage was already done.
What would you do differently?:

Try to start slower and be calmer. also avoid the washing machine.
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

My T1 went very well.
Bike
  • 57m 19s
  • 19.5 miles
  • 20.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike went well, I used too much energy though and faded near the end. My average speed for the first 16 miles was about 22.5. People were drafting all over the place which really bothered me and I tried to expend too much energy to pass groups. I should have just biked my own race.
What would you do differently?:

pace myself a little better, don't pay attention to other people
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

There was someone else's bike in my spot, had to move it. It flustered me and I forgot my race belt. Had to go back and get it.
What would you do differently?:

NOT FORGET MY RACE BELT.
Run
  • 28m 40s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Before the race I decided to go all out on the bike because I figured I could always run 3 more miles. WRONG. I cramped up a bit and felt awful throughout the whole run. I also left my race belt and had to run back about 300 meters to go get it which added alot to my time. all in all a very bad run.
What would you do differently?:

Save some energy for the run. have some more fluids to prevent cramping.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, drank

What limited your ability to perform faster:

i only trained for 1.5 months; simply not in good enough shape to do better. more fluids, i cramped which is really unusual for me.

Event comments:

I loved my first tri, I am hooked. Just want to do better next time.
