Comments:

This was my first OWS, and I loved it. It's way more fun than swimming in a pool. I was pretty nervous but I'm pretty comfortable in the water and once we started swimming I was fine. It was pretty surreal, the cloudy water, dark shadows, a vague sense of the other bodies around, some close and some just out of sight, a few bumps here and there.
What would you do differently?:

I probably sighted more than I needed to, but I did stay on course. And of course I still need to get in much better swimming shape.
Transition 1

Comments:

Still having problems getting my shirt on. I tried the roll it on like a condom idea which works great for my socks but didn't really work with the shirt. I put it halfway on, fumbled around, took it back off, then managed to get it on the second time.
What would you do differently?:

figure out how to put on my shirt:)
Bike
  • 1h 13m 7s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 10.18 mile/hr
Comments:

I suck on a mtn bike!!! It was fun but I'd need to do a lot more riding to feel comfortable going at a competitive speed. On the plus side I saved a lot of energy for the run by feathering the brakes on all the down hills. Never got passed going up hill, but guys were screaming past me on the descents.
What would you do differently?:

more time in the saddle as they say here on BT
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
What would you do differently?:

I need to get those speedy shoe lace things and maybe skip the drink and a snack.
Run
  • 44m 38s
  • 4.97 miles
  • 08m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

I thought I was running faster than I was but it was hard to tell with the steep hills. Took one good tumble, always fun to cross the finish line muddy and bloody.
What would you do differently?:

Probably not kick that rock
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for about 5 minutes

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mostly that I'm a chicken sh#t on my mtn bike, and it was only my second triathlon and first OWS. Over all I feel great about the race and had a lot of fun, but I'm hoping to really hone up my fitness over the winter.

Event comments:

I have little to compare it to, but Without Limits Productions seemed to put on a very good race. Well organized, fun and positive volunteers, and a fun race. I'd definitely recommend their races to anyone who was interested.
