Pre-race routine:

Arrvied early for setup as I wasn't sure how busy the downtown area would be. When I got there there was a lot of area to park the car take my time and setup. Forgot to grab something to eat so I went to a local grocery store and bought a powerbar. That was probably a good thing!
Event warmup:

10 min. prior tot he swim start, I went into the water and got use to the water and did a few short swim strokes.

See comments above about starting on the opposite side of the group then I did. This really cost me a lot in my swim pacing.

If I want to increase my pace I need to be more agressive about passing people rather then being content to hang back as much as I did.

Need to be more careful about dismounting. I took the wrong foot out of the pedals and almost crashed on the street before entering the transition area.

Comments:

Very bad run for me. I should have been and could have been faster. My legs were cramping up so bad that I had to stop 3 or more times just to give them a break and massage it out.
What would you do differently?:

I will spend much more time this year on RUN training so that this will be my best event!

Walked around with the family and took some pictures. Drank some HEED and lots of water.

Course: This was a short/shallow (on the way out) swim. Couple of problems: 1) I should have started on the opposite side of where I did becuase I had to swim back through a lot of people before I could actually get some open water, and 2) Big problem with the shallow water was that there were too many people walking at the first part and it was hard to swim around them.

Course: this was a pretty flat and fast course. Also there were a lot of cars and slower bikers that had to be dealt with. I could have gone faster but since I'm not an elite runner and obviously wasn't going to place....I didn't push the pace as much as I could have.
