Swim
Comments: Could find my stroke for at the beginning due to waves. Ended up swimming with my head out of the water most of the way. Front crawl the entire time. What would you do differently?: More OWS training beforehand. Transition 1
Comments: was a little winded from the swim causing me to run slower than I would like. Slower than I thought putting on the sneakers. What would you do differently?: More OWS training beforehand. Bike
Comments: I did not see any other mountain bikes on the course. Passed 3 hybrides and a handfull of road/tri bikes. Was getting passed quite a bit throughout particularly from waves that started after me. I think the mountain bike gave me a pretty significant disadvantage. Wasn't very happy with my drink mix (1/3 water, 2/3 gatorade). Overall I was happy with my time and intensity. What would you do differently?: Get a shiny new tri bike ;). Less gatorade in my water bottle mix. Transition 2
Comments: Transistion as expected. Didn't have to change footware. Run
Comments: Run was faster than expected. Had water the first 2 stops but decided it was too much of a pain and went without the rest of the way. Running legs came back pretty quickly, probably from the long run with bike in T2. Didn't have any sprint left in me at the end which probably means I managed my pace well. What would you do differently?: Just keep going with training to increase volume and consequently speed. Post race
Warm down: walking. light stretching What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. training particularly in the swim. 2. riding a mountian bike with nobby tires.
