Run
Comments: There were 3 drinks stations - 3.5, 7.5 and 11.5 miles - I stormed past the 1st, tried to get some at the 2nd, but the girl handing out cups wouldn't let go, so my cup spilt everywhere! Stuff the water, it's over-rated! At 11.5 miles, I didn't see the point cos we were so close to home - maybe not the best time for being pig-headed, but hey! (stupid boy!) What would you do differently?: Go to the loo more at the start (and take a couple of Loperamide at the start line!) Grab water at each station - no matter how stupidly they're spaced! Post race
Warm down: A good long walk back to the car and some stretching in the hotel cafe. What limited your ability to perform faster: Getting myself pumped up by hanging around at the start for an hour - I should have taken myself off for a walk; instead I was on the biggest adrenaline boost - which is fine except for what happens to my guts! :( Having to stop for a pee was expected, the other stop took longer and wasn't - grrrr! Not drinking a wee bit when offered. Event comments: It was not a No Fuss event - some of the marshals were pretty abrupt, but it was good and plenty of bodies to help out.. The buses came for us about an hour before the start and as a result we were left hanging about (in excellenct facilities) for the hour before the race. There weren't enough toilets (when are there ever!) and I missed a trip before the start - it's ok I thought - I can pause if needed...
