Ran into no less than 10 people that claimed they swam much faster than they did. I dont know why somebody would claim they are faster than they are so they get run over in a time trial swim.
What would you do differently?:

swam twice as far by going around everybody swimming further but not running into so many slow swimmers (and people doing breast stroke for God's sake).
