Transition was about a mile from the parking lot. That was enough warm-up.

Comments:

Probably should have worn the wetsuit. Water wasn't that bad but it took a couple of minutes to get over the initial plunge. Breathing and stroke went out the window for the first third of the race.
What would you do differently?:

First time dealing with a mass start of any type. Think I'll be more aggressive next time.

Comments:

Very long and steep transit to T-1. Took my time to not expend too much energy. A little disorganized and slow getting into the transition mode. Should have cut the time by at least a minute.
What would you do differently?:

Still doubt that I'll run up the hill to transition next time. I do need to get into a hurry up mode. T-1 always seems to be sluggish for me. Also need get shoes suitable for the running mounts.

Had read on the BT forums that this was a fairly level course....WRONG!!! Still a fair and fun course.

Push a bit harder especially towards the end.

Still don't exhibit a sense of urgency in the transitions. Should have been out in half the time.
What would you do differently?:

Be a little less careful with getting the bike gear off. Throw and go from now on.

Need to continue to build on speed.
Post race
Warm down:

Just kept walking around the finish area with water. Passed on the free chiropractor adjustments. Joined the food line after about 30 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still suffering the effects of a bad chest cold. Very little actual training accomplished due to chest cold and flying schedule.

Event comments:

This was my second ever triathlon. Was shocked to find that I'd finished third in AG. I wasn't fast, others were just slower.

Well run and fun. Fair courses with a bit of a challenge. Swim could easily be a bit longer. I'll be back next year.
