Comments:

Much better start than previous race (badin), no problems with breathing. Also managed to keep from using my legs too much. The sun was blinding at the second turn but we had been told to swim towards the sun for direction and this seemed to work. 2 minutes faster than any of my open water practice swims.
Lost championship chip during swim!
What would you do differently?:

Buy a velcro band for chip and also use a safety pin to make sure it cannot fall off.

Some cramping in my calves to start, took it easy for first 1/4 mile and found my stride. Felt much better than I expected at the end and could have run faster.

Losing my chip was costly ($30 for replacement!) not to mention no official splits or placings. Lesson learned.
