Swim
Comments: Felt good in the swim. Got in a groove and just hammered it out. Nothing too fast, but felt good with form, time, and feeling good coming out of the water. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Need to practice on increasing speed, but felt pretty good about it. Transition 1
Comments: T1 took me a little longer than I wanted it too. Cap and gogs off when I got to my bike. Put socks and shirt on...that took a second. Gotta get a tri top. Always have a little trouble clipping in, but not too bad. What would you do differently?: Practice clipping in and get a tri top. Bike
Comments: Good bike. Rolling hills made it fast downhill. Was really able to pick up some speed. Climbing up the hills wasn't bad. It seemed like all of the oncoming bikers were going uphill, so I was dreading making the turn and going up the hills. But they never came and it was a good ride all around. Gear changes were good. Transition 2
Comments: T2 was good in and out. Racked the bike, shoe switch, helmet off, and gone. Run
Comments: Man, my calves knotted up as soon as I came out of transition and stayed that way for about half a mile. Had to run a little peg-legged until they eased up a little and the fear of cramping left me. So...started off a lot slower than I wanted to. Once they eased up, I felt good. Passed more people than passed me - that's always a good sign. After starting slow, catching a groove, I really pushed it for the last mile and felt good with the last kick. What would you do differently?: Stretch! Or something. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little. Drank water. Waited for Scott C and looked for TJ. Didn't stop sweating for about an hour. What limited your ability to perform faster: Calves cramping up a little. Event comments: Really liked the race. Well put together and a ton of volunteers to help and point out the course. This will no doubt be one that I do each year from now on. Got up around 4:30 to get a bar in and some water. Shower, pack check, and hit the road. Drove down with neighbor, Scott C - was running too.
Not enough. Stretched a little bit and made sure that everything was set up.
