Swim
Comments: What felt like a good swim turned out to be not so much in comparison to Steelhead. My focus was better, my stroke felt better, drafting was better. The times did not show it. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Another woman racer was leaning on my bike bars to put on her shoes and consequently knocked out my sunglasses and salt tabs from my helmet. I had to stop and think to make sure I had everything before I left T1. What would you do differently?: swim faster so other athlete won't mess up my transition area Bike
Comments: Extremely poor bike for me. This felt like my worst event, which usually is where I make my time. I only had 3 gels. Definately not enough. I was dizzy in the last several miles of the course. I wasn't sure if I would make it onto the run course. I had a headwind on the way back into town that didn't help things. What would you do differently?: eat more. Transition 2
Comments: Again, my transition area was not available to me when I arrived there. People had racked their bikes right over my spot so I had to do some rearranging to put my bike up. In my post bike dizziness I actually put my shoes on last. I grabbed my visor first then my race belt, then realized I still needed my shoes. I really wanted to lay down and nap. What would you do differently?: Bike my normal speed and beat most to T2 so my spot on the rack is still there. Run
Comments: Very poor for me. Nothing helped, the dizziness had eased up but I had nothing left in my legs. I resorted to the run walk and could barely encourage anyone else on the course. Keep moving forward. I think the run course was longer than 13.1, based on other peoples Garmins, and other's slow run times. What would you do differently?: eat better on the bike so I don't blow up. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Fatigue from a long season. Not enough food. Poor sleep from loud campsite neighbors. ME. Event comments: This race had it's pros and cons. I'm not sure I will do this 1/2 anymore but will likely do one of the shorter distances. Last updated: 2009-08-24 12:00 AM

bagel with pb and honey - it tasted suprisingly well for race morning but I wish I had creamy pb instead of chunky. also a granola bar and a gel 1/2 hour before the start
just an easy swim before the race meeting
