Swim
Comments: About half of the folks wore suits. I was surprised I finished second. The beach run was not as bad as I had thought it would be and was a nice break before starting the second lap. If you plan to swim for practice the day prior it will set you back $5. What would you do differently?: Train for more open water swimming. Transition 1
Comments: I was surprised how easy my suit came off and I didn't need to soak my feet to get the sand off. Overall, this was fine, but my problem was after exiting T1 I found out my chain had come off my crank. Once I fixed that, my sunglasses hit the ground and broke. What would you do differently?: Preflight my bike much closer. Bike
Comments: The course seemed like it was half hilly/half flat. This year, they put plywood over the bridge so no requirement to dismount (there was cheering when this was announced). I think I the only person with a road bike vs. a tri-bike. What would you do differently?: I thought I'd done enough hill training but apparently not. I felt like I lacked power so I think I'll get a professional bike fit before the next race. Would consider getting aerobars. Transition 2
Comments: I think 60 seconds of my T1 times was running in and out. Many of the folks had to run long distances in bike shoes. I already had my running shoes on so not an issue. What would you do differently?: Move bike closer to the bike in/out point so you don't have to run the whole T2 area with the bike. Run
Comments: Course-wise it was not to bad at all. Mainly flat and shaded. My problem was a got off the bike and the muscles above the knee and near my thighs were killing me. At 1.5 mi, I got a hamstring cramp. What would you do differently?: I tried brick training but my problem I think was not working opposing muscle groups enough. Post race
Warm down: Walking, water, stretch. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike fit, cramping after starting the run. Event comments: Based on previous reviews I was a little disappointed. There didn't seem to be any goody bags or post-race entertainment. I was a fan of the bicycle repair tent pre-race. Last updated: 2009-08-24 12:00 AM

Setup and getting bike looked at (front wheel was rubbing). Was surprised at how small the transition area was.
