Pre-race routine:

Up at 6am. Clif bar, water. Set up transition. Had plenty of time. Hung around and chatted here and there with other athletes. Observed the calm smooth swim course. Atmosphere and set-up was excellent.
Event warmup:

Light bike ride and stretching.
Swim
  • 06m 15s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim course was nice. Run up from the beach was set up nicely. Overall this was an average swim for me. I shouldn't have been quite as fatigued after such a short swim. Definitely need to spend more time in the pool.
What would you do differently?:

I went out a little hard a first trying to break from the crowd. I think that hurt me in the final 100 yards.
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Kind of slow. I was taking my time trying to catch my breath.
Bike
  • 54m 33s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.50 mile/hr
Comments:

Not sure what my problem was. My legs wouldn't respond on this day. I had no power, and my time shows it. Not sure what to say, just had a bad day on the bike. The course itself was great. Hope to come back next year with a better performance.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more?
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Pretty good. Rack the bike, put on the race belt and go.
What would you do differently?:

Nothin'
Run
  • 26m 40s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

I passed about 10 people, but my pace was relatively slow for me. I thought I was going a little faster.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Post race
Event comments:

Lots of Volunteers. Someone was at every corner to give me direction. The police force held traffic very well considering the amount of traffic in this area. Drink stations were plentiful. Post race food was very good. There was only one shuttle back to transition, and they could have announced where to find it and how often it would arrive. Other than that, I thought the race was very well organized. My kids enjoyed the parks at transition and finish.
