Swim
Comments: Wasn't prepared for the chaotic start. Was trampled over and lost my breath immediately. Lack of ryhthm throughout the rest had me a bit frustrated. Finished out pretty strong though. What would you do differently?: Start back further or on the side more. Get my own tempo going and forget about the other racers. I know I can perform better than I did. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty solid T1, no complaints. What would you do differently?: Mount a little later, after the corner which I nearly bailed on. More course prep needed. Bike
Comments: Sketchy bike hop after T1, but got a solid pace going. Passed a lot of expensive tri bikes on the road bike I was on - so that was kind of cool. What would you do differently?: Observe and strategize when to hop on the bike after T1, because there was a slight up hill turn at the mounting line. Better preparation would have had me running my bike up a bit further before mounting. Also, I should have pushed a little more on the straight-aways, leaving a little more effort behind. Transition 2
Comments: Running shoes already on my feet (strap pedals), so it was smooth sailing for T2. What would you do differently?: Ride harder to dismount line, rather than slowing sooner. I was a little to cautious. Run
Comments: I felt really good. Started opening up after the first mile and lengthened my stride a little more. Plenty of energy throughout the whole run. What would you do differently?: Push myself harder, at least after the mile 2. I had way too much energy at the end of this race and felt I could have left more out there. Post race
Warm down: Light jog and walk out. Good stretch routine to follow including some snacks. What limited your ability to perform faster: A poor swim put me in the back of the pack. Better preparation on the course might have helped around the transition area. Additionally, now I know what I am capable of and feel I can exert more effort next time. Event comments: Such a great race. Awesome atmoshpere, volunteers and support. I will definitely be back next year to do the olympic! Last updated: 2009-08-25 12:00 AM

Solid breakfast 3 hours prior and some upbeat music on the way to the event to pump me up. Half of a 5 hour energy consumed on the way there, while sipping on water & vitamin water up until the gun. My nutrition and taper up to the event was something I was very happy with. Felt good up to the race.
Pre-race swim to try and open the lungs up a little bit. Perhaps a bit too early because when I got out, I was a bit chilly and had to layer back up. A light jog with a very little ballistic stretches before getting back in the water.
