Swim
Comments: Below average swim. There was a water patrol boat that came out there for support making waves. I took in several big gulps of water on the way out. Sighting was not very good, I would like to see them put some bigger bouy's on the corners and at the swim finish. Long run from the water to the beach plus another 100 yards to the transition. This time was included in my total swim time. What would you do differently?: Warm up, my heart rate was high and I got tired early in the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Fastest T1. I arrived early so I had a good rack position near the bike and run exit. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Out and back. Flat roads in good shape. Head wind on the way out tail wind on the return. Got passed once and pass one person. What would you do differently?: Ride harder. At one point I had to remind myself that I wan in a race. Transition 2
Comments: It seemed like it took forever to get my feet in my shoes, missed talking to Mama Bear in transition this time. 12th fastest T2. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: Crappy. Started out good until the .5 mile point. I had a sharp pain in the center of my leg at the bottom of my calf. I stopped and massaged it and tried to run again. After a minute of running had to stop again and walk. The guy that beat me in my age group passed me at this point. I got pissed off at this point and said the hell with it and ran the rest of the race slowly. What would you do differently?: Not get hurt. Post race
Warm down: Found my wife and son. Tried not to walk around because my calf was killing me. Talked to a lot of the folks that participated in the race, checked my time and was surprised to see that I still came in second place. What limited your ability to perform faster: Pain in the calf. Event comments: Great race. Well organized, especially for the first one. There were plenty on volunteers, cold towels on the run, water station on the bike leg, most small races don't have these amenities. From a spectators point of view, my wife thought that this was one of the easiest races to see your athlete. Lake End Park turned out to be a great spot to hold a race. Hopefully Lisa and Charlie hold this race every year. Last updated: 2009-08-25 12:00 AM

Woke up at 05:00 eat 2 scrambled eggs and a pack of oatmeal. Loaded up th bike and went to the race site. 10 minute drive, awesome to participate in a race in your own backyard.
Very little swimming, not nearly enough.
