Energy bar and Red Bull 2 hrs before. Sipped Gatorade rest of the time prior to race.

Not bad for first open water swim. Got better as I went on. Did get quite off course after first buoy. Looked up and I was easily 45 degrees off course. Probably added 50 meters.
What would you do differently?:

Better navigation.

Pretty tired after swim so I took my time. Probably a little slower than it should have been. Also had trouble finding my bike.

Not bad. Started slowly but gained confidence as I started passing some folks on their mountain bikes. Felt really good the second half. Best bike split yet in a race.
What would you do differently?:

Faster start would save more time.

Felt stronger as I went along. Last mile was great for me (8 minutes). Even had enough kick to pass two people in last 200 meters.

Walked around for 20 minutes or so.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike was fastest time for me yet, but it was still pretty slow.

Event comments:

Considering it was my first open water swim, I had a decent time. Fastest bike and run splits in a tri yet. Enjoyed it a lot.
