Swim
Comments: I'm just a pretty poor swimmer What would you do differently?: Keep working on my swim technique. Transition 1
Comments: It was good to see my girls cheering me on as I was coming out of the water. Bike
Comments: I made a mental error in thinking I was supposed to veer to the right to come into T2. At the last minute, one of the race officials shouted that I needed to veer left. I braked hard and skidded about 15 feet and avoided crashing into a crowd of about a dozen people. Very lucky there wasn't an accident, but my tire didn't fare so well. When I got home, I noticed chunks of the tire missing. I believe the bike route was short, my Garmin showed that the route was 10.5 miles. What would you do differently?: I would make sure my bike is properly tuned up. In the beginning of the bike, I shifted from the little ring to big ring and my chain almost came off. Luckily, I noticed this happening and was able to shift back to the little ring before the chain came off completely. Transition 2
Comments: Didn't have much luck running the bike with the shoes still on the pedals. One of the shoes dragged on the ground and fell off. This is the 3rd time (out of 4) that I lost a shoe. Run
Comments: Pretty good run, but again, I believe the course was a little short. My garmin showed the run at 2.7 miles. Post race
Event comments: Great race that I would do again. Since this was the first year of this very local race, I don't think the RD anticipated so many people. It would be nice to have age groups breakdowns as well as ensure the course distances are little more accurate. Last updated: 2009-08-26 12:00 AM

Woke up at 2 am and ate my peanut butter toast. Went back to bed and woke up at 0600 to use the bathroom.
Quick 1/2 mile jog, stretched then jumped in the lake and swam about 100 meters and waded in the water until the race started.
