![]() Swim
Comments: The worst washing machine yet. (out of a whopping 6 tris & 2 OW races) Decided I don't like double-loop courses. Too many turns and it's too easy to catch multiple start waves (those ahead as well as behind) during the swim. What would you do differently?: run folks over. I was too nice & stopped to look for a seam. So I was probably 3-400yds into the race before I got any clear water. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I was a bit cold & had a few brain fades. Grabbed my helmet right away - wait, I have to put on a shirt. That type of stuff. What would you do differently?: Stick with the plan. Keep moving. ![]() Bike
Comments: I was hoping to break 20mph on this course. Missed by a couple minutes, but I'm pretty happy with it, considering my legs were frozen for the first 4-5 miles from the swim & air drying. What would you do differently?: practice, practice, practice. and maybe ride less during taper week. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Did OK. Decided to slow it down after messing things up so bad during T1. Everything worked out OK. ![]() Run
Comments: I felt a lot more tired than my race a couple weeks ago. I probably should have scoped out the course a bit more before the race so I wasn't wondering when the finish would come - it was hidden pretty well by the trees until the last 2-300 yds. What would you do differently?: take more water at the aid stations. ![]() Post race
Warm down: walked around for a while. drank some water, poured some water over my head, grabbed some grub. What limited your ability to perform faster: possibly a poor taper, but mostly newness to the sport. Event comments: Race announcements were spotty because the wireless mikes they were using kept malfunctioning. The swim course was very narrow for the size of waves that were being run. Swag sucked. Post-race food (by the time the Oly racers got there) was pretty bad (someone said the oranges looked like they'd been pre-chewed), except for the strawberry shortcake cups. I expected better food, especially since it was billed as BBQ and they were charging $5 for spectators to get food. Last updated: 2009-08-30 12:00 AM

Ate, drove to the park, set up.
jogged a bit & stretched. Wondered why I didn't pack more 'disposable' clothes to wear on the shore so I wouldn't freeze waiting for my wave.
