Run
Comments: Surprisingly fast pace considering how hilly the course was. Went out right at about a 8 min/mile pace. Ran with a AFROTC guy (Justin) from Ohio University at the begninning and we just hung out the entire race. The first 5 miles flew by. I took a 1/4 of an orange at the turnaround point and later on was thinking maybe I shouldn't have. Nothing came of it though. Justin and I were talking about when we were going to pick up the pace near the finish and I told him to run ahead to get 1:43, but he didn't want to do it, so I picked up the pace and we both broke 1:43 (chip time). What would you do differently?: Probably not eat the orange, although it worked in the past. Post race
Warm down: Wrapped self in "foil" blanket given at finish. Drank a water and ate a banana. Looked for other finishers then got a 20 min massage. Post massage found the free food (and it was a good spread) and the $1 beer (have to replace those calories somehow). What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of tempo runs, but I performed better than I thought I would given the lack of speed work. Event comments: Very well organized race with challenging hills. I would DEFINITELY recommend this race to others. Last updated: 2005-09-17 12:00 AM
