Comments: This was my first OWS in an event. Started strong then lost focus on stroke to being concerned about those around me. Need to develop more confidence in my stroke. When I had it going, was strong. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Strongest part of my race. Felt very comfortable. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Started out with a pace that was comfortable but well below my expected pace for this distance. Pace got stronger as I went through the course, had plenty left for a strong kick to the finish. What would you do differently?: Need to push harder from T2 to get through the initial burn of transitioning from biking. Post race
Warm down: Walked with my son for about 10 minutes, did some light stretching, drank sports drink and ate a banana. Event comments: Some confusion by the participants on how the swim route worked until we were already in the water waiting for the start. I was familiar with the rest of the course due to running it ahead of time, but my family and friends noted that others were confused about the direction of the biking and running courses at times. Ate a Cliff Bar and banana, drank 20oz water on the way to the event. Set-up transition, scoped out the transition area routes in/out then the finish line.
A little bit of light jogging, stretch walking and stretches.
