Total Time = 1h 20m 18s
Overall Rank = 69/238
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 6/12
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3:30 and drove to Mcminnville. I got my favorite parking space...same one the last 5 years. Registered and set up.
Event warmup:

A little jog and 2 laps in the pool
Swim
  • 06m 34s
  • 383 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

orange223 started right in front of me in the pool...I was bib 104 and he was 103. I was able to draft off of him for a couple lengths then the lanes got jammed up. I was able to pass him and then he drafted off of me. I was surprised to see 1st in age group...swimming is usually my weakest leg.
What would you do differently?:

Fastest in age group but I think I could have swam better. I wasn't getting a very good push off the wall because of the crowds. I hate it when people guess to fast of a swim time then clog up the lane. I had 103 people ahead of me that said they could swim faster than me and I beat 51 of them. There were 3 in the 10 min area and even 1 over 11 mins.
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

T1 went smooth
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 46m 9s
  • 15.25 miles
  • 19.83 mile/hr
Comments:

This was the slowest I have ridden this course the last 5 years. I felt like I was riding fast but my time didn't show it.
What would you do differently?:

I needed more time in the saddle.
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

T2 is always fast for me.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 25m 13s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a new course this year and I like it better than the old course. My legs were cramping at the start and never really got into a rhythm. There were some nice downhills I couldn't take advantage of.
What would you do differently?:

Need more run training.
Post race
Warm down:

Jumped back into the pool to cool off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Well...I missed training the whole month of June due to 4 kidney stones and a ureter stent from the Memorial Day weekend. I had it removed July 3rd and haven't been able to get back to where I was before it happened. I was just happy to be racing yet this year.

Event comments:

Team Magic does such a great job on their races. I can't wait for next year to come back and race healthy.
