Swim
Comments: Totally clear swim. It is worth starting in my preferred spot to avoid the thrashing. What would you do differently?: Swim faster :) Transition 1
Comments: Needed a bathroom break after the swim. Decided to wear a cycling jersey and cycling shorts on the bike in order to carry enough Infinit. Took a little longer to get the jersey and then I ripped off the number from one side. What would you do differently?: Wear a race belt and buy an behind the seat water bottle holder. That way I can wear the race jersey. I also need to try another brand of race shorts. Bike
Comments: Thought I was riding faster. Flet very comfortable on the bike. Took salt and thought I was drinking enough. Climbed well for the first time in an Ironman. Had two bottles of Infinit at the speacial needs area. Also took two Tylenol Extra Strength at the top of Yellow Lake. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder. Drink more and take more salt. Transition 2
Comments: Did a complete clothing change. Struggled to get the race jersey on and had to find vaseline. Needed another bathroom stop before exiting T2 What would you do differently?: Clothing again. Need to explore what I can where for the whole race Run
Comments: Well that was interesting. Started the run feeling great and just had to slow down to keep the HR in the correct zone. Handled the first 10K easily and then my thighs became really sore I suffered for the rest of the race.I consumed two salt tabs ever 30 min and two Tylenol every hour. It did not help. I also had a lot of trouble with fluid. Stopped to go three times with no luck. Must have cost me 4-5 minutes. I also cramped three times from Skaha to the finish. The last time was with a mile of the clock and I had to walk for at least 10 min. What would you do differently?: Try and figure out how to run off the bike. Also need to get the nutrition, fluid ingestion and salt thing figure out. Post race
Warm down: Limped to the med tent and had the HR and BP checked as I was really shaky What limited your ability to perform faster: Fluid, and salt intake. I felt strong at the end of the race but my legs were to sore to push Event comments: Officated turn a blind eye to drafting and blocking. Last updated: 2009-08-31 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:50 and had a bagel, a bannna and 2 cups of coffee. Good time to get up and take care of business. Left the motel and 4:40 and arrived at race site at 4:50. Pumped my tires, setup my nutritional items, had a bottle of water and chilled. Put my wetsuit on at 6:30 and walked to the swim area.
I was able to get in the water as the pros were starting and was able to swim for about 5 min. Took my usual start position and was ready to go.
