Bike
Comments: Quite a few roadies in pelotons that I was trying to avoid. It just seems wrong to ride off someone else's work. I want to ride the ride myself and not hang off someone else's wheel so that's what I did. The first 60 miles was just comfortable. I sang a lot. Saw a number of people with aerobikes and talked with as many as I could. Saw exactly ONE other Felt B12. The last 40 miles was after the wind started picking up and decided we needed a head wind from hell. We got a bit of a break occasionally with a cross wind but that was only about 200-500 yards each time, then turn right back into the bloody headwind. That's okay, 19.5 MPH average is better than I was even secretly thinking I could do on the best day with everything working for me. Rain for most of the first part of the ride then moderately clearing and letting us dry out without bringing on the oven. What would you do differently?: Not a darned thing. It was a good day. Post race
Warm down: Walked through the vendors places and then about 2 blocks to my car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Possibly the fact that the first time I've ever used clipless pedals was last June. I'm not arguing at all. Event comments: Excellent ride. I do believe I'm going to be looking for it next year. Last updated: 2009-09-01 12:00 AM
