Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:10 and ate a bagel with peanut butter and a cup of coffee. Drove over to the Homestead Suites and waited for my buddy, Gui.

Some light stretching but that is about it.

My time last year when it was wetsuit legal was obviously faster but I still felt as if I underperformed. Anyway, I started at the beginning of my wave so I was not able to grab someone and draft. Lake level is definitely low because I swam up on top of some boulders 3 times. I really did not see them until I was on top of them because I was having some fogging issues with my goggles.
What would you do differently?:

Do a better job drafting and go back to my kaiman goggles because my new speedos that michael phelps was pimping for open water did not cut it.. I was all over the place and had to clear them 5-6 times.

This is a good ride for me and I am very happy with it. I pushed it pretty hard but didn't go all out. It was nice passing some TT bikes on my roadie but will hopefully have one of my own next year :)

I had to put on socks but was glad I did for the run. It was a long hike with the bike and then out the other end for the run.

I was happy with this run but it was getting hot and I was glad to get it over with. I tried to keep a pretty consistent pace throughout because I knew I would be hurting at the end. I know that I passed some Age Groupers so that felt great.
What would you do differently?:

Just train more. The ankle injury in March limited my running this summer so I will be looking forward to hopefully hitting the season next year at 100%

Just lack of conditioning to where I was hoping to be.
